TCL unveils the Note A1 NXTPAPER, a specialized digital notepad designed to meet the growing number of users fed up with overly glossy screens and way too slow e-ink refresh rates. The screen measures 11.5 inches, takes up the very thin aluminum casing and weighs only 500 grams. You should be able to hold it with one hand for hours without straining your hand, thanks to a thicker edge on one side that provides a good, firm grip.
NXTPAPER Pure technology gives you a full-color LCD screen with a special non-glare coating that efficiently minimizes glare and reduces those annoying blue light levels to a level where you can work for long periods of time without feeling fatigued. The results are supported by the necessary TÜV and SGS certificates. However, it retains the 120Hz refresh rate we’ve all come to expect, meaning scrolling and writing are silky smooth, with no latency or ghosting seen on previous E-ink screens.

The panel has a resolution of 2200 by 1440 pixels, with no less than 16.7 million color options and a variable brightness that peaks at approximately 300 nits. The surface still feels like smooth paper under the included T-Pen Pro stylus, but unlike some other E-ink gadgets the colors really explode when needed. With 8,192 levels of pressure, a dual-tip eraser design, and sub-5 millisecond latency, the stylus itself is pretty amazing. TCL even created it to mimic the feeling of writing with pencil on real paper.
A MediaTek Helio G100 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage power the entire system, so you can load as many notebooks, PDFs, and recordings as you want without worrying about running out of space. You’ll finish it quickly thanks to the 8,000 mAh battery and 33W fast charging. To ensure you get clear sound even in the noisiest environments, eight microphones are placed around the edges, each with directional pickup and noise cancellation.

In terms of software, this device really leans towards being a tool for writers and organizers. With just a swipe of the screen, you can access real-time transcription, translation, and automated summaries that distill long conversations into essential points. Of course, there is handwriting recognition, which converts your scratch into readable text. Oh, and there are programs that can correct sloppy handwriting and, if you want, even rewrite it. The Inspiration Space helps you organize your thoughts and disorganized notes into a coherent whole, and formula recognition is a nice bonus.

Using online services like Dropbox or Google Drive or transferring files directly over the same Wi-Fi network makes file sharing a breeze. If you really want to do something special, you can even buy cases that turn this device into a mini workstation by adding a flip cover or a full keyboard. By the end of February 2026, the Note A1 NXTPAPER will be available in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific for $549. According to TCL, this device is aimed directly at competitors like the reMarkable Paper Pro or Kindle Scribe, but it has a few extra features, such as lots of extra storage, full color and very fast performance.
