The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed one of their top defensemen, reportedly signing JJ Moser to a long-term deal.
Like broken through Elliotte Friedman on Saturday afternoon”Good afternoon… late Christmas present in Tampa Bay for JJ Moser, who is having a great season. I hear he is nearing an eight-year, $6.75 million AAV extension with the Lightning.”
The lightning confirmed the news not long after. They wrote on their official website: “The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman JJ Moser to an eight-year contract extension worth an AAV of $6.75 million, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today. The contract extension begins with the 2026-27 season and runs through the end of the 2033-34 season.”
JFresh writes: “JJ Moser is having an insane season, and on top of the absurd underlying numbers, Tampa has a .958 save percentage with him on the ice at 5v5.”
Moser, 25, played 34 games for Tampa Bay this season, scoring three goals and 12 points while averaging 21:43 per night. He leads the Lightning with a plus-24 rating and is among the NHL’s best defensemen at plus-minus. Acquired from Arizona in June 2024, the Swiss blueliner has played in 293 career NHL games, recording 21 goals and 98 points.
More to come…
