Tampa Bay Lightning announces 2025-26 Opening Night Roster – The Hockey Writers Tampa Bay Lightning Latest News, Analysis and more

The Tampa Bay Lightning has announced their opening night schedule for the 2025-26 season. The line -up consists of many of the same stars that fans have met, along with a few new faces.

A few remarkable additions are Prospect Forward Jack Finley and free-agent Pick-up Pontus Holmberg. Forward Curtis Douglas has recently been added as a distance statement. Defenseman Max Crozier, who has played with The Lightning 18 career NHL games in the past two seasons, cracked the schedule to start too.

Lightning will also roles in particular with a third goalkeeper on the Roster. Pheonix Copley was picked up from exemptions last week, and he could possibly help with filling holes where starting goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevsky might need extra rest.

As previously reported, Nick Paul will be absent for the first month or so of the season. They will also be Girgensons without Zemgus.

Here is the breakdown of the grid, because the lightning not only makes the Stanley Cup -Play -offs for the ninth season in a row, but passing it past the first round because they reached the Stanley Cup final in 2022.

Forwards (13): Oliver Borkstrand, Mitchell Chaffee, Anthony Cirelli, Curtis Douglas, Jack Finley, Conor Geekie, Gage Goncalves, Yanni Gourde, Jake Guentzel, Bandon Hagel, Pontus Holmberg, Nikita Kucherov, Braayden Point

Defenders (7): Erik Cernak, Max Crozier, Victor Hedman, Emil Lilleberg, Ryan McDonagh, JJ Moser, Darren Raddysh

Goals (3): Pheonix Copley, Jonas Johansson, Andrei Vasilevsky

Injured and/or non-grid: Zemgus Girgenson (IS), Niko Huuhtanen (IR/NO), Nick Paul (IS)

Those new in the schedule will strive to give lightning the depth they have missed in recent seasons, especially in the lower six. The Lightning opens the season on Thursday, October 9, when they organize the Ottawa Senators in the newly appointed Benchmark International Arena. Puck Drop is set at 7 p.m.
