DMK has worked consistently to ensure that emerging technologies help society, and former CM Karunanidhi was a visionary and the first cm that launched an IT protection for a state for a state, vice -minister -president of Tamilu udhayanidhi Stalin said on Wednesday when he was inhented on Wednesday.
“With such events, the state government hopes to scale up and commercialize the IP of the State … TN has many investment options, and we urge investors to work with us early in our innovation system,” he said.
Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister of Information Technology & Digital Services (IT & DS), said that Tamil Nadu is almost 17 percent of the total patents submitted in India, and has shown that a state can concentrate on both growth and social justice.
The conclave -theme “Intellectual powerhouse: transforming Tamil Nadu in India’s innovation capital” was organized by Tamil Nadu Technology (ITNT) HUB, functioning under the Information Technology & Digital Services department, the government of Tamil Nadu.
Commodore Amit Rastogi (RETD), chairman and director of National Research & Development Corporation, pointed to the growth of the activities of patent applications in recent years. Tamil Nadu was at the top in terms of the number of patents submitted in FY24 at 7,686. This was largely contributed by organizations such as IIT-Madras, Anna University, Zoho, Ashok Leyland and others.
Josh Foulger, President – Electronics, Setwork, a speaker at the event, urged innovators to patent their work when they innovate or build processes. “We at Zetwerk have currently started with a group that can become a company in the future, called Zeal-Zetwerk Electronics Automation Lab, for internal needs at the moment and plan to do this commercially,” he said.
The deputy CM has also handed over checks for seed funds under the Foundation Fund of the HUB to five deep and emerging technical startups incubated under the Pathfinder program at ITNT HUB.
The Tamil Nadu Technology Transfer Facilitation Center (TNTTFC) at ITNT HUB also facilitated four technological transfers between academic researchers and industries during the event. The HUB also exchanged seven memoranda of understanding during the event.
