Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, on Tuesday (12 August 2025), launched the ‘Thayumanavar Thittam’, which aims to deliver ration products at the door of more than 21.7 Lakh older citizens and the disabled in the entire state. The scheme would be implemented in 34,809 Fair price stores for 20.42,657 citizens older than 70 years and 1.27,797 disabled people under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The essential raw materials from ration shops would be delivered at the door of the beneficiaries on the second Saturday and Sunday of every month. Minister PK Sekarbabu; Wetgevers JJ Ebenezer, R. Moorthy, RD Shekar, Thayagam Kavi, Joseph Samuel, A. Vetriazhagan and KP Shankar; Main secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials participated in the Regulation role event in Tondiarpet in Chennai.

“Instead of considering the extra expenses of £ 30.16 crore [incurred] by the cooperation department [for delivery]We consider this our duty to serve and protect the life of people, “said Mr Stalin.

In a post on social media, Mr Stalin said that the ‘Thayumanavar Thittam’ was one of his favorite initiatives and claimed that this initiative was a role model for the country. He remembered that he had opened 2,394 ration shops of the DMK government for the past four years. There are 37,328 ration shops in Tamil Nadu.

“Only because we efficiently go the fair price stores in the footsteps of our runs Thalaivar Kalaignar [former CM M. Karunanidhi]Tamil Nadu remains a state without killing as a result of hunger. We have made efforts to further simplify the way ration shops could be used, “said Mr Stalin.

The Minister President called on officials and employees of the cooperation department to ensure that the initiative is implemented to achieve 100% of his objective. “You have to be attentive and friendly to the older citizens and the disabled who would eagerly expect from your arrival.”

Mr Stalin said his government did not think that announcing a new program was sufficient, but thought it was his duty to ensure that the benefits of the program reached the last beneficiary. “We designed this initiative after realizing the hardships with which the elderly are confronted,” he said.
