As part of a comprehensive preparation plan, Nepal will tour Sri Lanka and India, with several T20 matches against teams from Sri Lanka A and Mumbai. The tour is divided into two phases, designed to provide the squad with high-quality competitive practice ahead of the global event.
Nepal will arrive in Sri Lanka on January 19 and will begin their training on January 19, 21 and 23. Their first T20 match against Sri Lanka A is scheduled for January 20, followed by the second and third matches on January 22 and 24 respectively. This leg in Sri Lanka will serve as Phase 1 of their World Cup preparation, allowing the team to acclimatize and test combinations against strong opposition.
After the Sri Lanka tour, Nepal will head to India for phase 2 of their preparations. They are expected to arrive before January 27 and will take on the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president’s XI in two T20 matches. The first match, a day match, will be played on January 29, while the second, a day-night match, is scheduled for January 31. Both matches will be held at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai.
During the T20 World Cup, Nepal will play all its group stage matches at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They start their campaign against England on February 8, followed by matches against the West Indies on February 15, Italy on February 17 and Bangladesh in their final group match on February 19.
