The former Pakistan pacer believes that Naqvi, who is also the Home Minister and heads the country’s Narcotics Control Ministry, has brought a lot of politics into cricket since taking over as the top chairman of the board. The legendary cricketer further said that Naqvi chooses players based on past glory and star image rather than form and team strength.
“Now one man doesn’t even know that he is the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. How will the team function now? You are saying that one man – you have made him a superstar – cannot win a single match. You have made him a star who cannot win a single living match,” Akhtar said after the match, via ABP News.
“Brother, if you make these kind of stars, if you choose them, if you pick them, then you have only this problem. But again, the point is, when you see, do you know what the biggest crime in the world is? The biggest crime in the world is giving a big job to an incompetent person,” the former cricketer added.
Notably, this was India’s eighth win against Pakistan in the history of the T20 World Cups since they first defeated the opposition in the 2007 edition. In fact, the Men in Green have won against the Indians just once, in 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India have maintained a strong dominance in the rivalry so far and have continued to prove why they are the No. 1 T20I team in the world.
