There is often a saying that goes: Batters win your matches, but bowlers win you tournaments. This is an extremely valid statement because unless you have a solid bowling attack, your success as a whole will decrease significantly. A team needs a bowling attack that is capable enough to take 10 wickets in a match, and continues to take wickets in the same manner more often during the competition. This is only possible if a team has a solid bowling line-up.
The 2026 T20 World Cup will witness some of the most amazing sets of bowlers in the competition. From Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah for Team India to Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid for England. Mitchell Santner and Jacob Duffy for New Zealand. Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Amed for Pakistan. Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis for Australia, and many more. The quality of bowlers in the competition is simply excellent.
But the most important question arises: which team has the best bowling attack in the league? Which team has 5-6 bowlers who can adapt to any type of wicket, and are able to get wickets in bulk for your team? Let’s analyze the current squad of each team and then look at the best bowling attack rankings with six bowlers from each team for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
T20 World Cup 2026 Each Team Best Bowling Attack Rankings
#9: West Indies
- Roston Chase
- Romario Herder
- Jason Holder
- Akeal Hosein
- Shamar Joseph
- Gudakesh pearl
At number 9 we have the West Indian team, and this shouldn’t even be a surprise. There was a time when West Indies had bowlers like Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Samuel Badree, etc. But in 2026, there is no more threatening bowler in the side. Akeal Hosein is probably their best bowler, and the likes of Jason Holder. Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Moti, Romario Shepherd, etc. are more like support bowlers than major wicket-taking options. Therefore, West Indies generally lag behind the competition when it comes to their bowling attack.
#8: Sri Lanka
- Charith Asalanka
- Dasun Shanaka (c)
- Wanindu Hasaranga
- Mahesh Theekshana
- Matheesha Pathirana
- Dushmanta Chameera
Number 8 belongs to the Sri Lankan team and they have some wicket-taking options in the squad, but overall there are still holes in the bowling attack. Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana remain the best assets in the bowling department. Apart from these two, Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera are good options, and Dasun Shanaka and Charith Asalanka are good from a filler perspective. So, overall, Sri Lanka has some solid bowlers but lacks the required bowling depth.
#7: England
- Will Jacks
- Sam Curran
- Jamie Overton
- Liam Dawson
- Jofra Sagittarius
- Adil Rashid
For number 7 we have the England team, and they are sailing a similar boat to Sri Lanka. While Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid remain the best bowlers for England, it is disappointing to see how the rest of the bowling attack is for England. Sam Curran is a decent bowler, but Liam Dawson, Luke Wood, Will Jacks and Jacob Bethell don’t inspire much confidence as a bowling unit. So overall, England will need a lot from the rest of the bowling attack.
#6: Australia
- Cameron Green
- Glenn Maxwell
- Cooper Connolly
- Xavier Bartlett
- Adam Zampa
- Nathan Ellis
Number 6 belongs to the Australian team, and this might as well be a negative. But what can we say about a bowling line-up that doesn’t have a golden trio of Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc? With injuries to Hazlewood and Cummins, Australia’s bowling attack looks weak compared to the competition. Adam Zampa remains their best bowler, and it will require a lot of effort from the likes of Nathan Ellis, Xavier Bartlett, Glenn Maxwell and others.
#5: New Zealand
- Glenn Phillips
- Michael Bracewell
- Mitchell Santner
- Ish Sodhi
- Jacob Duffy
- Matt Henry
Coming to number 5, we have the New Zealand team, and the team has 2-3 quality bowlers in the squad. Mitchell Santner, Jacob Duffy and Matt Henry are the best three bowlers in the side, with Santner still their main asset. While Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips and Ish Sodhi are reasonable options, that is the reason New Zealand’s bowling line-up is not among the best teams in the league.
#4: Pakistan
- Saim Ayub
- Muhammad Nawaz
- Shadab Khan
- Shaheen Afridi
- Abra Ahmed
- Salman Mirza
Coming to number 4, we have a surprise, and that is the Pakistani team, with a good bowling attack on paper. We can troll Pakistan’s batting all we want, but their bowling line-up is competitive. Led by Shaheen Afridi in the pace department and Abrar Ahmed in the spin department, there is an equally competitive rest of the bowling attack involving Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Salman Mira. It’s a setup powerful enough to suit any type of wicket.
#3: Afghanistan
- Azmatullah Omarzai
- Mohammed Nabi
- Rashid Khan(c)
- Fazalhaq Farooqi
- Mujeeb Ur Rahman
- Noor Ahmed
Moving on to the top 3, we have the Afghanistan team, and honestly, while their batting is still a work in progress, their bowling attack is one of the best in the world. Led by the spin trio of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb ur Rahman, Afghanistan’s bowling attack is capable enough to suit any kind of wicket. And if the pitch offers even the slightest help to the bowlers, the Afghan team is like a tiger ready to pounce on its prey. Besides these three, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi and Fazalhaq Farooqui are more than capable bowlers.
#2: South Africa
- Aiden Markram
- Marco Jansen
- Corbin Bosch
- Success
- Kagiso Rabada
- Keshav Maharaj
Coming into the top 2, we have the South African bowling attack, and even that looks quite competent on paper. Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen are solid bowlers to have. While Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram and Corbin Bosch complete the rest of the bowling attack perfectly. It may not be the most perfect bowling line-up like the Indian team, but it is certainly powerful enough to be called the second best bowling team of the tournament.
#1: Team India
- Axar Patel
- Hardik Pandya
- Shivam Dubey
- Arshdeep Singh
- jasprit bumrah
- Varun Chakraborty
At number one we have the undisputed kings of the bowling attack, the Indian team. It is a sight to behold to see the Indian team’s bowling looking threatening and it is undoubtedly the best we have seen in the history of Indian cricket. The trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh is a cheat code that any team can have, and when you have Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube as the other bowlers, there is hardly any weakness in the bowling attack.
