Syrian presidency announces -the -fire after fighting in Druze Area

The Syrian presidency has an immediate and extensive cease -the fires announced after days of bloodshed in the predominantly Druze area that left more than 300 people dead.

In his statement, Syrian presidency urged all parties to bind to it -fires and the hostilities in all areas immediately ended.

The office of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced on Saturday, local time, an “immediately cease-fire” in Sweida, because the forces of the Ministry of the Interior in the province of Druze majority were deployed under an American closed deal with Israel.

The presidency called “all parties to” fully respect the ceasefire, which came after Israel bombarded the troops of the Ministry of Defense who had used it earlier this week in the southern province to force their withdrawal.

Earlier this week, Israel intervened in the conflict and hit government forces and the building of the Ministry of Defense in Damascus when it explained support for the Druze fewness.

The American envoy Tom Barrack announced on Friday that Syria and Israel had agreed to a ceasefires.

Mr. Barrack, who is both the American ambassador of the Syria -envoy of Türkiye and Washington, said that Israel and Syria agreed with the ceasefiring -the fires supported by Türkiye, Jordan and their neighbors.

The Sweida province of Syria is flooded by almost a week of violence, which started with collisions between Bedouin hunters and Druzen facts, before he pulled government -praised troops that were sent by Damascus to the area.

Mr Barrack said that Israel and Syria had agreed to a cease -Fires and Druze, Bedouins and Sunnis had called to put down their weapons and “build a new and united Syrian identity together with other minorities”.

Israel has said that it aims to protect the Druze -lesson of Syria, while it also says that it wants to remain demilitarized near the border near the border.

Al-Sharaa has accused Israel of sowing division among Syrians.

On Friday, an Israeli official said that Israel agreed to allow Syrian troops to allow limited access to the Sweida area for the next two days.
