33 Raglan St, Mosman has expectations in the double-figure millions in an expressions of interest campaign.
A prominent Sydney surgeon and his political lobbyist ex-husband have put their luxury Mosman mansion up for sale amid a furious divorce.
Kidney transplant specialist Professor David Gracey and his political lobbyist husband Michael Kauter, chairman and CEO of the boutique Government Affairs Advisory Strategic Political Counsel, separated last December.
They were married in New York in 2014 and were poster boys for gay marriage. Kauter was a former deputy director of the National Party at the time.
Kauter was arrested by police last December after showing up at his ex-husband’s practice, apparently for a medical check-up, allegedly in violation of an apprehended domestic violence order.

Happier times: Michael Kauter and David Gracey married in 2014 in New York. Kauter says, “After all this, I still believe in marriage, and that it is meant to last a lifetime.”
They bought the big house in 2022 for $9.1 million.
There was also a charge of destroying or damaging property associated with the glass on a picture frame.
The 45-year-old was in handcuffs when he appeared on screen at Downing Center Local Court, but all charges were later dismissed.
In July, there were reports that Gracey had moved his new lover and his lover’s ex-boyfriend into the Raglan St estate earlier this year.
Kauter and Gracey had purchased The Villa, which has a large sandstone facade with iconic harbor views, in 2022 for $9.1 million.
Built in 1910 as the former postmaster’s residence, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom, four-garage residence on a 1,056 sqm block at 33 Raglan St is now listed by Adrian Bridges of Atlas in collaboration with Sotheby’s agent Alon Baron.
Kauter says they spent $1 million on renovations.
It’s an expressions of interest campaign with expectations in the millions.
When contacted for comment, Kauter said his divorce was finalized today.
“When I bought The Villa I thought it would be my home for life, but life had other plans,” he said.
“Against all odds, I put my soul into transforming it and I am proud of what it has become.
“We spent over a million on the house and it has been completely transformed.”
He said he hoped an eastern suburbs buyer would fall in love with it as much as she did.
“Yes, I’m hurt, but at the end of the day, what’s a house without a heart?
“I hope it sells quickly… after all this I still believe in marriage, and that it is meant to last a lifetime.”
Prof. Gracey was also contacted but declined to comment.
