Nashua, NH – A shooter opened fire on Saturday in a New Hampshire Country Club, in which one person was killed and injured several others, the authorities said.

The person who died in the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua was an adult man, according to the Attorney General John Formella of New Hampshire and Nashua police chief Kevin Rourke.

Authorities said that the suspect, who was held on the spot, was also an adult man, and previous reports of two shooters were fermented. The police said there was no further danger to the public.

Researchers were still working on determining a motive, said New Hampshire senior assistant attorney general Peter Hinckley.

Information about the circumstances of the wounded victims was not immediately available.

Tom Bartelson from Pepperell, Massachusetts, who was at the Country Club, described a chaotic scene that unfolded near the wedding of his cousin. He said he heard the shooter say, “The children are safe” and “free Palestine” and seemed to focus on someone.

“Coming together for a dance for the bride and groom and then all chaos went off,” he said. “We heard about six shots and everyone dived for coverage and the next that you know, we were consulted in safe places and things like that.”

He said some people fell to the floor and tried to get away from the stage. There was a lot of panic, he said.

“We tried to keep relatives safe,” he said. “Keep everyone impressed and try to find safe places.”
