A trio of trotters were sent into the lead from the wings, Southernsunshine (Brett Miller) putting a head in front in the opening quarter in :27.1, with Helpspaythebills (Tyler Smith) in the pocket.
When the field first passed through the stands, Fruit Snacker (Kevin Lambright) was the first to pull, giving the eventual winner lively coverage.
The half mile was in:57.3 and three quarters in 1:25.4.
Fruit Snacker and Sure Did battled it out on the course, with the latter crossing the line first in 1:55.2 over the ‘good’ surface.
