Support for FSG slots ‘has not wavered’ despite the rift between Salah

Mo Salah says he no longer has “any relationship” has reportedly not changed Liverpool owner FSG’s stance on Arne Slot’s position.

Despite Liverpool having won just two league games since September 20, Slot retains the support of his bosses.

Reliable reporter Paul Joyce wrote for the Times that FSG “wants Slot to get through what is proving to be an extremely difficult second season after last season’s title success and that he has shown no signs of having any doubts about that.”

Although Slot still has the backing of Liverpool’s owners, the journalist adds that “the patience will not be endless, but results will ultimately determine Slot’s future, not Salah stomping his feet.”

And that last part about Salah is perhaps the key sentence.

The Egyptian is clearly not happy with the club and while his split with Slot may have made headlines, it was his comment about feeling that “someone doesn’t want me in the club” that should be most ominous for his future at Liverpool.

That club directors are reportedly siding with Slot makes it difficult to see how Salah will return.

A January transfer for Mo Salah?

With the situation seemingly only ending with one winner, Salah or Slot, the club are keen to see the situation rectified.

If Liverpool’s hierarchy want to see Salah leave so the coach can develop his new players and system, they now have a good reason to push him out.

BBC Sports report that among the clubs mentioned there is interest in Salah from Saudi Arabia – Al Hilal.

“This club, I will always support it, my children will always support it, I love the club so much. I always will,” Salah said after Liverpool drew with Leeds.

“I called my mum yesterday and said ‘come to the Brighton match’, it doesn’t matter if I play or not, I’m going to enjoy it.

“We’ll see what happens, but in my mind I’m going to enjoy that match whether I play or not, whether I’m on the bench or not.

“I don’t know what will happen now, but it will be at Anfield. Say goodbye to the fans before the African Cup of Nations, because I don’t know what will happen when I get there.”

He will leave for AFCON after Liverpool’s match at home to Brighton on Saturday. Fans may not like it, but at this point there’s a chance it could be the last time Salah and Slot are at Anfield together.
