In ESPN’s annual offseason survey, the trade from Phoenix Suns for Mark Williams received a voice for the Worst move of the low season. The deal went on the tap night, with the Suns Vasilije Micić, the no. 29 Pick and a first round pick from 2029 to the Hornets for Williams. Phoenix went from needing a center to having two in Williams and Kaman Maluach.
Windhorst, Tim Bontemps and Tim Macmahon discussed the research results on the podcast “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective”. Macmahon said he “understands” why Phoenix did the exchange, and he noticed that the choice was taken of the choice that the Suns received in the trade in last season with jazz.
A few months before the Suns received Williams, everyone thought he was on his way to the Lakers in an exchange that was labeled as a victory for Los Angeles. However, the Lakers have withdrawn the trade because of the physical of Williams. He went back to Charlotte.
Williams was the number 15 Pick in the NBA design of 2022 and since then he has not come close to a full season because of injuries. The highest number of matches he played is 44, that this took place last season. That is just over half of a full season of 82 games.
If that trend continues, the trade will agree poorly for Phoenix. Availability is the most important skill, right? La nixed the trade for a reason, one that could chase the suns.
Mark Williams Trade labeled as one of the worst movements outside of season
You would almost think that the Suns Devin Booker and Kevin Durant traded for Williams based on a few responses to the trade. The future first round choice that Phoenix Charlotte sent is not valuable. Williams is not a player of nobody.
The center will be 24 later this year, so he could have a long career in Phoenix, as long as it stays healthy. That is the biggest question mark.
Was it a risk to act for him? Yes. Does that make it a bad trade? No.
Williams on average 15.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per game last season for the Hornets. He must continue to develop in the defensive end, but he can score and repair.
The trade was not the most questionable move of Phoenix of the low season, with the abandonment of and pronouncing the rest of the Bradley Beal contract who received three votes in the survey for the worst movement outside the season. You can also throw in the Durant -Dhandle, given what the suns received (or not received) in exchange for that.
The Williams trade is not the end of the world. It will still not be the end of the world, even if it is not in favor of the Suns.
