The Phoenix Suns made their middle position again this season and left Oso ighodaro without a role after a promising rookie. The 6’10 large man is strictly a five, but Phoenix exchanged for Mark Williams and set up Kaman Maluach in the lottery. The Suns still have Nick Richards, who probably puts Eighodaro on the depth card and is unable to see action.
The 23-year-old showed flash like a rookie. He an average of 9.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in the seven games where he played for more than 30 minutes last season. Iighodaro shot more than 60 percent out of the field in year one and is intriguing for every team looking for a long -term answer with the five.
The Suns did not exchange Kevin Durant surprisingly and reset their schedule this season. Having a developing big man seems ideal, especially after he has turned up again in the summer competition, but the Front Office has other ideas.
Zones have absolutely sewn OSO Iighodaro with their movements outside season
Ighodaro’s basketball IQ and play capacity Teams should have interested. Different calls probably sunbathe and try to get it cheaply. Phoenix does not appreciate the 23-year-old, but he can be an impactful backup large man for a competition now with room to grow.
Iighodaro is 6’10 and 235 pounds. For those who worry that he is substandard. He is not a Wembanyama, but nobody is. This should not be concerned.
The suns were considerably better with ighodaro on the floor last season. They defeated the opposition with 0.5 points per 100 possessions and were surpassed by 3.9 points when he went to the bank.
There is plenty to find about the play of the young person, but the suns don’t see it. He is absolutely buried on the depth map. Phoenix could try to let him run on the four, but that is not his ideal position. Iighodaro tried only two 3-Pointers last season and both missed. He is not a floor fellow and the Suns cannot play two non-shooters in the same line-up.
This leaves the 23-year-old without a role forward. Maluach is the center of the future and Mark Williams is only 24. The Suns tried to lock that up long -term position out of season this season, but left ighodaro to dry.
The Warriors, Lakers, Celtics and Pacers all have to call about OSO ighodaro. He could be a backup of the difference for different teams and start with others. That movement is only one phone call removed. The only thing that teams have to do is look at his Summer League tape as proof that ighodaro is ready to make an impact and improve quickly.
The Phoenix Suns eliminated him out of their rotation this season, but his future is rosy. It probably costs a change of environment, but don’t be surprised to see him make an impact quickly. It will leave Suns fans with a well -known sense of regret that a staple of the Mat Ishbia era has become.
