NHL training camp is underway, and that means that hockey is a few short weeks in the regular season. The Calgary Flames will have a number of difficult decisions to take with their last selection, especially those related to offense. The Flames have difficulty score for a number of years. Somehow the Flames reached a regular season of 98 points last year, despite the end of the 29th in the NHL in goals per game.
Part of that attacking battle can be attributed to an inefficient power play, in which the 19th season is generally terminated with a success rate of 21%. With the flames that desperately need more offensive this season, we wanted to know who fans think that fans should the top playing game Quarterback to start the year. We asked, you answered.

Who needs the Top Power Play unit of the Flames Quarterback?
We have presented the poll below to our readers:
Zayne Parekh
Zayne Parekh finishes second in this week’s poll and collects slightly more than a third of the votes. There is no doubt that Parekh has the power and scores 92 points on the Power Play in his three seasons in the OHL with the SaginaW spirit. It is kind of his bread and butter.
Parekh is a natural playmaker and his confidence and deception with the puck make him dangerous at the helm of a power play. There is no doubt that one day Zayne Parekh will be the top unit of the Flames, but it may be early to throw him in the first group.
The 2025–26 season is the first full season of Parekh of Professional Hockey, and there will be a learning curve to a certain extent. He showed in his first NHL game that he can deal with the pros, but I do not imagine that Ryan Huska loves expensive turnover of the Power Play. It may take a while to earn trust – starting him on pp2 – but Perekh gets his chance if the coaching staff is worried to start the season.
Mackenzie Weegar
Almost half of the respondents in this week’s survey selected Mackenzie Weegar. Weegsy wins the popular mood with an almost majority. It seems that Flames fans agree with the aforementioned assessment of Parekh. It will take some time.
Moreover, Weegar is not slow on the Power Play. He has played solid minutes in the man of the Flames in recent seasons, as his chance has increased. In the past two seasons, Weegar has achieved Seven Power Play goals and 36 Power play points. He also shot incredibly well on the Power Play and converts at 40.8% of his Power Play shots.
Weegar has proven that he can lead a Power Play unit and has developed chemistry with flames such as Matt Coronato and Jonathan Huberdeau. With Weegar in running the Olympic team of Canada this winter, it would not be surprising to see the two -way defender lead the top game of the Flames to start the season.
Rasmus Andersson
Rasmus Andersson has unfortunately been the story of the summer in Calgary. It seems that the D-Man will do it not Be a distraction on the way to the regular season while he starts the season with the flames. Andersson collected about an eighth of the voices this week, good enough for the third in the poll.
Andersson has been successful in the past on the powerful game of the Flames. In 2021–22 and 2022–23 Andersson scored 40 points on the advantage of the man for the flames and collected an abundance of assists. Since then, his attacking production has been withdrawn in all situations.
There is no doubt that Andersson has struggled in recent seasons. Although the veteran D-Man has proven his playing capacity in the past, the change of the guard with Parekh has come. Maybe he gets a shot on PP2 to try to sell his value? Even then I’m not sure.
Daniil Miromanov

Sorry, Daniil Miromanov, only 3% of the votes went this week in your way …
Race with three horses
Weegar seems as if he is a shoo-in for one of the two places, and Perekh will undoubtedly tie on Anderson’s heels if he gets the chance to find one of the two units. In general, the Flames have a decent duo from Parekh and Weegar, with Andersson as a solid backup option.
Whatever the choice, the flames need more success on the Power Play if they want to try to improve what an impressive show was last year.
