A few years ago I received a few cards that cut off a grain box from a set that I had never heard of before I saw the cards.
Well, this is a set of the 90s, so it must be more complicated than that.

I did not immediately notice a difference between these cards and the one I already had. I am often not very attentive.
But when I started entering these cards in TCDB, I thought. A few players in the set have two different cards and that made sure that I realized that the cards I had just received, logos from the upper deck did not have topps logos.
Then – ok, this is the frustrating part for an OCD collector – I realized that the upper changes are smaller than the TOPPS cards.

Both in terms of height …

And in terms of width.
OCD Bells go everywhere.
That led me to discover that this was actually a cross-brand set with 30 cards with topps, upper deck and pinnacle. The maps of each company appeared on wheations -boxes, but on different types of wheats boxes.

The TCDB blurb on the set. Tickets absolutely vary in size! This is not the first time that I felt sorry for children who grew up in the 90s. I think this is what happens when competitors come together on a set.
So the upper fitting cards that I received came from boxes with crispy wheelies n ‘Raisins. Pinnacle seems to be the strange brand because I have never heard of Honing Frosted Wheatsies – not that I was eating breakfast cereals in 1997.
Apart from the size of the cards, the upper fitting cards differ somewhat from topps in the sense that all UD cards have orange edges, while the tops cards vary with orange, blue and green edges.
But the bottleneck is now on saving this “set” on pages. The tops wheelions cards are a strange width that does not fit in a standard page with nine pocket. But they fit neatly on an eight-pocket page with only a little extra space and that is where I have stored them for nine years.
The wheat cards of the upper deck are the same depth as a standard baseball card but much leaner. So placing them in the same eight pocket as the others are not going to work. I will have to mix and match pages, what another OCD is no-no.
I don’t know the size of the Pinnacle Wheations cards, but I assume they are like the upper cover. I bet that if the cards are not trimmed close to the edges with a wider cut, the UD cards can match the tops cards, but I don’t know what the box configurations looked like and whether that was even possible.
This set was the first baseball map of Wheelions in 45 years and although it is cool, there were cards to cut off grain boxes, the variations in shape do not inspire me to try to finish the set.
I think this Real is a strange set.
