Jacob Ramsey was announced on Sunday as a Newcastle United player who moved in a reported £ 40 million deal from Aston Villa.
A lifelong Villa fan and member of the club at the age of six, 18 years later, Jacob Ramsey explains why he made the move:
“I am very happy to be here.
“It has been a madman for two or three days, but I am really happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“This is a big move for me, but as soon as I knew that the Gaffer (Eddie Howe) was interested and really loved me, it didn’t take much time to decide.
“His track record of developing players, especially those who have become internationals here speaks for himself.
“It was always a tough game that played against Newcastle for Villa – the team is full of energy, so athletic and the fans are so passionate. I feel that my game fits and I am excited to be on the other side now.”
Eddie Howe explained why he wanted to sign Jacob Ramsey:
“Jacob is another fantastic addition to our team.
“His qualities bring us something different on the field and he fits with the profile of young and hungry to develop, but also with a wealth of Premier League football under his belt.
“Jacob offers versatility and directness in attack and has proven to be a real threat in recent seasons at this level.
“He also performed very well in the Champions League last season and we believe that he will be a big asset to us.”
But interesting to hear from the end of the things of Aston Villa, some strong words from Tyrone Mings and John McGinn through their personal social media after the departure of Ramsey …
John McGinn responds to Jacob Ramsey who becomes a member of Newcastle United:
“Always modest, respectful and willing to learn.
“It was a privilege to share the dressing room with you and to enjoy a number of special moments on the field.
“A sad day that loses a top player and person and one of our own, but nowadays it seems to be the way football is set up!”
