This two-storey, five-bedroom home, located close to the community center of Northcote, is evident from its striking brick facade and is a statement in architectural design.

“Leonard St has no heritage overlay, which meant our design choices were quite open-ended,” say vendors Ryan and Stephanie.

“We came across the breezeblock facade from a previous Auhaus design in Cremorne. That’s why we chose Auhaus, so they could help us create our own version,” they say.

“We like that it is different and stands out from the crowd.”

Ryan and Stephanie worked closely with Auhaus Architecture to demolish and rebuild 31 Leonard Street, bringing their plan for a five-bedroom, three-bedroom home to life.

A five-bedroom house in Northcote has hit the market.

The house was designed by Auhaus Architecture.

With spacious open plan living on both levels, the house is suitable for entertainers.

“When we first decided to renovate, we wanted to raise the front a level (since we were already higher up at the back), but we quickly discovered that we would have to demolish the entire front if we wanted to realize our dream vision,” they explain.

“This in itself was quite big, not to mention the fact that this construction took place in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis, with many restrictions and delays.

“However, due to the high level of detail of the design, it gave us the opportunity to stop and get the finer details right.”

Some of these finer details include a combination of polished concrete and wooden floors that run throughout, along with sleek stone accents, recessed finishes and beautiful curved accents.

“Texture was huge for us, and we had lots of statement textures that we loved – whether that was the small square matte tiles used in the bathrooms, polished concrete floors, the alternative surface used from the bar to the master bedroom,” say the sellers.

“Our Eastwood and Co cabinets are also so beautifully finished and a big highlight for us, with lots of different finishes depending on each room.”

The striking home is a statement in architectural design.

The home is listed with a guide price of $3.4-$3.6 million.

The property will be auctioned on February 7 at noon.

With spacious open plan living on both levels of the house, as well as a north-facing terrace with integrated barbecue, the house is suitable for entertainers.

“We love to entertain, so creating a functional, yet aesthetically pleasing space was a big priority for us,” say Ryan and Stephanie.

“We love that our kitchen opens onto our courtyard, turning it into one big space, so you can move freely.

“The sunken lounge was a design masterpiece, as no one wants to look at the back of a sofa, and in turn helped maintain the open flow of the kitchen and living room.”

31 Leonard St, Northcote is listed by Justin Mellar of Jellis Craig Northcote with a price guide of $3.4-$3.6 million. The property will be auctioned on February 7 at noon.
