4 minutes, 18 seconds Read

We are back with another episode of Open House: Everyday ExcellenceA podcast from Living Room Realty who investigates how brokers can do their work with heart, skill and creativity.

In every episode we sit down with agents who reform what it means to serve customers properly. We talk about the practices, the challenges and the lessons that help us grow both as professionals and as people.

🎧 Episode 4: Tell stories through persona marketing with Lydia Halay

This week’s guest, Lydia Hallay, believes that every house has a story. She shows us how important it is for agents to tell that story in a way that connects with people.

Instead of just trusting the base such as square meters or the number of bedrooms, Lydia continues. She gives her lists of names, creates playlists, stages with intention and even brings fresh flowers. All these details create an experience with which buyers can represent their lives in space.

In this episode, Lydia shares:

  • How persona marketing ensures that houses feel alive and memorable

  • Why talking to sellers about what they like, helps to attract the right buyers

  • Ways to build anticipation by withdrawing the curtain to your process

  • How authenticity and joy distinguish you in a busy market

For whom it is

This episode is for agents who want to go beyond the pressure of “selling” and instead want to concentrate on building stronger connections. If you ever have trouble making your marketing feel authentic, or you were wondering how you can bring more of your personality to work, Lydia’s approach offers both inspiration and practical steps.

Why it matters

Real estate is about more than transactions. It is about trust, imagination and connectedness. When we treat every house as a story that is worth telling, we help buyers and sellers we feel and understood. We also create excitement and trust about what comes next.

Lydia reminds us that joy and creativity are not extras. They are tools that can elevate your practice and ensure that your work stands out. As she says: “Stay human.”

Jenelle Etzel

President and owner, recognized broker or

She/her

What does lead singer and guitarist in a female punk band have in common with starting a real estate company in the middle of a recession? Not many people can answer that question. But if you ask the Jenelle Isaacson Etzel founder and CEO of Living Room Realty, there is no hesitation; Where most of them would see a gap, she sees a bridge. For Jenelle it was all about finding a voice – the single and unstoppable expression of the self. Once a calm, inquisitive, high school girl who grew up in Portland, Jenelle started a punk band after the university. She played the guitar, wrote Cathartic songs, performed and traveled through the country while she lived out of a van. All this seems to show light years from the present moment-one successful, growing company; Serve on councils of the administration of civil and philanthropic organizations; Enjoy family life with her two young daughters and old partner. Yet she now uses the same voice that began to appear on stage years ago. Whether it is about things or music, “It is important to know what your voice is. If it is true, it will resonate.” Jenelle’s voice, her truth, is about being brave enough to take action without being apologized, being heard without being exploited, constantly problem solving and refining its skills in the pursuit of a targeted company. All this requires risks. She has learned in the hard way that she cannot repair everything and that not everyone will share her vision. But even while she explains the difficult choices she has to do, Jenelle radiates joy. “It’s never okay to play small,” she says with conviction. And this is, above all, what she strives to give other women, enabling them to heartily pursue their passion and to be leaders who speak with their own unique, unapologetic voice.
