On the way to last season, one of the biggest questions about the Toronto Maple Leafs Rooster was the goal of the team. Neither of the two goals had a lot of NHL experience, and between them it was one of the biggest gambling that a top NHL team had in the fold. The fact is that Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll were seen by many as more gamble instead of a solution.

But when the season unfolded, that gamble almost paid off. Stolarz came in and stole the show, while Woll turned out to be the stable presence of their own soil for which the team had hoped. What looked like a weakness on paper turned into a surprising force – until injuries both hit my own.
The only question about the goalkeepers of Maple Leafs: can they remain healthy?
Now, while the Maple Leafs is preparing to open the 2025–26 season, goal convening is again in the spotlight – but this time for the right reasons. The tandem of Stolarz and Woll is not only promising; It’s exciting. Stolarz comes into the season that comes from a career-best campaign.
Woll, when healthy, has shown that he can bear the load with balance and consistency. During his short career, he even seems to appear well during the late season. He gives his team the chance to win almost every time he grabs the fold. The greatest care is sustainability, not talent. For a team that wants to fight, having a strong and stable presence in the fold is of vital importance, and this duo gives Toronto exactly that.
The man who stood for a long time: Anthony Stolarz showed well in season one
Stolarz, now 31, steps in the season as the likely starter of the Maple Leafs, and with good reason. Last season he had a campaign for the centuries. When he entered Toronto, there was a cautious optimism, but he quickly silenced the doubters. He ended the season with an incredible .926 savings percentage (SV%) and a 2.14 goals against average (GAA) in 34 games, Exactly at the top of the competition.

His calm, collected presence in the fold was what the Maple Leafs needed. It let the team attack his thing without constantly worrying about what happened behind them.

But just like Woll, the health of Stolarz is a big question mark. He missed time with a knee injury during the regular season, and then A concussion hit him out From the play -offs. With that history you can bet that the Maple Leafs will be smart about his workload. Most likely the team looks at a split of almost 50/50, which is a smart way to keep it fresh and healthy for the grind of the play -offs. This approach not only protects their top player, but also gives their partner a lot of ice age to leave their mark.
The hero of our own soil: The moment of Joseph Woll arrives
And that brings us to Woll. At 27 he is not just a prospect anymore; He is a legitimate NHL goalkeeper. It has been a treat for Maple Leafs fans. It has been a while since the team has produced a home -grown talent. The team wages him and he produced.

Woll’s figures proven last season that he belongs. He placed a .909 SV% and a 2.73 GAA in 42 competitions, which showed off his athletics and talent for the cool pressure. Do you remember when Stolarz went into the play -offs? Woll stepped up, played great and strengthened his place in this tandem. The new three -year contract that he signed before last season showed that the organization has a lot of confidence in him. He is a keeper who gets better and better, and this season his golden chance can be to break out.
Stolarz and Woll can be the perfect mix for a championship run
This Stolarz-Wol combination can become a Dream Team scenario for the Maple Leafs. With Stolarz they have an elite veteran who has been proven that he can be a game changer. It is huge (literally and figuratively) in the fold. With Woll they have a rising star that is more than able to win games themselves and is pushing hard to be the number one man. He also has a zen-like appearance about him that makes him interesting to look at.

That Healthy (and friendly) competition Is exactly what teams want – it brings out the best in both players. Moreover, the 50/50 workload offers the team flexibility. Instead of putting all their eggs in one basket, they have two capable goalkeepers ready to take the reins in an instant.
The success of the Maple Leafs this season will largely depend on this duo. The team, in a “Think of winning” window, needs reliable play of the net. Stolarz’s balance and solid figures from last season, combined with the continuous growth of Woll, give the team a Rock-Solid Foundation.

Although there will always be a whisper about health and consistency, this is one of the most exciting and promising goalkeeper tandems that the Maple Leafs had in a long time. Leafs Nation can enter the season with a new sense of trust, knowing that the fortunes of the team are in the hands of two very capable goalkeepers.
