Muskateer Hanover and Its Rockandroll A were launched from the wings of the starting gate approaching the first turn. Muskateer Hanover, the 6/5 betting favourite, won the early battle to clear the lead in a closely contested battle in 26.2.His rockandroll A settled in the pocket. Downers Delight pushed the early pace and then retreated to the pylons into third, passing the quarter pole.
Muskateer Hanover stayed ahead at halftime with 55 seconds flat and a ticker of 28.3.
Steven’s Saloon, which had failed to clear the track in its previous races, was first and without cover into the cold air temperatures approaching the backstretch. Wehadababyetzaboy shadowed second and Sweet Angel Boy circled from the back of the pack as Wehadababyetzaboy got tired. Itsrockandroll A remained patient in the pocket.
Muskateer Hanover and Stevens Saloon raced shoulder to shoulder and neither relented as they blitzed the three quarters in 1:22.4, a third quarter of 27.4.
At the top of the stretch, Steven’s Saloon powered its way into the lead in a deep section and won by a neck, completing the mile in 1:51.1. He paid $19.00 for the win.

Steven’s Saloon (Always B Miki) is owned by Richard A. Ashley and C. Michael Cain, both of Delaware. Joseph Hundertpfund Jr trained and Jason Thompson rode. Pocketsitter Itsrockandroll A finished second and Downers Delight was on the pylons finishing third.
Trainer Joe Huntertpfund Jr commented on Steven’s Saloon’s performance saying: “He’s much better running in first place, just like he raced at Harrington”.
