The diagnosis of a torn Achilles-tendon for All-Star Forward Jayson Tatum is a devastating blow to the defending champion Boston Celtics and the second injury of his kind during the NBA play-offs.

Seven-time All-NBA guard Damian Lillard van de Milwaukee Bucks tore his left Achilles-tendon during a loss for the Indiana Pacers on 28 April.

The 27-year-old Tatum tore his judge Achilles-tendon against the New York Knicks on Monday evening when he dived to a loose ball and published his leg. He buried his face in a towel in clear pain while he grabbed his leg above the ankle after the contactless injury.

The Knicks won 121-113 to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-sevent NBA Eastern Conference semi-finals. The series resumes on Wednesday in Boston, where the Celtics have to win to stay alive in the play -offs.

Aaron Rodgers

The four-fold NFL MVP tore his left Achilles-tendon on September 11, 2023, four snawles in his first year with the New York Jets. He was injured when he tried to avoid a hasty Leonard Floyd, who completed the quarterback and spent him to the Metlife Stadium grass. Rodgers, at the time 39, returned to practice in an amazing 77 days after the operation, but did not play again until September 9, 2024. The jets released him in March and he was undecided in playing in 2025.

Kobe Bryant

The late basketball hall of Famer tore an Achilles -Tees on April 12, 2013, was operated on the next day and returned to the court with the Los Angeles Lakers on December 8, 2013 at the age of 35 -. Bryant only played six games before a knee injury forced him to miss the rest of the season. Bryant on average 22.3 points in just 35 games in 2014-15 and 17.6 points in 66 games in his last season in 2015-16.

Kevin Durant

The dual NBA Finals MVP tore an Achilles-tendon on 13 June 2019 and played for Golden State in Game 4 of the Championship round. He missed a full season and returned with the Brooklyn Nets on December 22, 2020, at the age of 32. Durant has played no more than 55 games since his return, but he has been Elite, on average 28.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists in three seasons since the injury.

Dominique Wilkins

The Basketball Hall of Famer tore an Achilles -Tees on January 28, 1992. He returned to the court with the Atlanta Hawks on November 6, 1992, only two months shy to turn 33. Wilkins back on average 29.9 points in his first season and played for seven years, including two Stints overseas.

Brandon Graham

The defensive end of the Philadelphia Eagles tore an Achilles tendon on September 19, 2021 and returned for the season opener September 11, 2022, at the age of 34. Graham had his best season as Pro last year, placing a career-high 11 bags.

Ryan Howard

The NL MVP of 2006 tore an Achilles -Tees on the last swing of a Postseason series on October 7, 2011. Howard returned to the line -up with the Philadelphia Phillies on July 6, 2012, at the age of 32 -. However, the big Slugger was never the same. Howard on average 44 homers and 133 RBIs in a period of six years before the injury. He on average 19/66 in the next five.
