Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry said his right knee injury is improving, but not yet fast enough to allow a return.
Speaking to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, the 37-year-old explained that while the situation is “moving in the right direction,” he will miss his third straight game on Saturday and remains cautious about rushing back.
“It’s just a matter of learning what works as you go through rehab,” Curry said.
“Because it’s still painful. You have to try to get rid of all the inflammation and pain. It’s something that we still have to monitor and manage, but it’s something where if I come back too early it could flare up.”
He also talked about the Warriors’ recent addition, center Kristaps Porzingis, who played in just 17 games this season while dealing with multiple injuries.
Curry noted both the adjustment period and the potential benefit if Porzingis can remain on the floor.
“I’m learning some Latvian,” Curry said when asked about Porzingis.
“I just hope he’s healthy first and foremost so he can do what he can on the floor. He and Al Horford won a championship together. Different context, but there’s a familiarity, skill, size and presence that we’ve been looking for for a while.”
