State Bank of India sets up Global Capability Center in Bengaluru

Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI), inaugurated the bank’s Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru on January 7. On the same occasion, 11 new SBI branches were inaugurated in the presence of Joohi Smita Sinha, Chief General Manager, Bengaluru Circle, and other General Managers of SBI.

This Global Capability Center is the first initiative of its kind by an Indian bank and underlines SBI’s commitment to supporting the fast-growing GCC ecosystem in India. In addition, SBI has established a dedicated relationship management team in Bengaluru to exclusively cater to the banking and financial needs of the GCCs.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the State Bank of India has announced contributions to community development and social welfare, including modernization of 35 government primary schools in Karnataka, supply of ENT diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to the ENT wing of Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital, IISc Medical School, a plantation of 50,000 trees on the campus of Tumkur University, and donation of an e-ambulance to the Madras Engineer Group (MEG) & Centre, Bengaluru, an engineering regiment of the Indian Army.
