The government of Karnataka has raised the sales tax on diesel to 21.17 percent from Tuesday, so that there will be an increase in RS 2 per liter, which means that the selling price is brought to RS 91.02.
An official statement emphasized that the Karnataka sales tax rate on Diesel was 24 percent before November 4, 2021, and the selling price per liter was RS 92.03. On June 15, 2024, the state government of Karnataka issued a notification to revise the tax rate on diesel to 18.44 percent.
“After the approval of the competent authority, the Karnataka turnover tax rate on diesel has increased to 21.17 percent, in force of 01-04-2025. As a result, there will be an increase in RS 2 per liter, which brings the selling price to RS 91.02,” the statement said.
Even after this increase, however, the revised selling price in the State will remain lower compared to the adjacent states, it said.
