Co-owner Gary Jarvis is grateful for the incredible ride he had with Rakero Rebel while preparing for the next phase of her life in the Fokschuur.
Connections have sold the Star Pacing Mare to the successful study based in New South Wales after a wonderful career of the circuit with 16 wins and 23 placements of 59 starts and a sign of more than $ 450,000 in Prizemoney.
The highlight was the only win of Group 1 in last year’s Queen of the Pacific in Melton, when she settled three along the fence and stormed home to pass her rivals in the shade of the post.
Rakero Rebel was purchased after nine starts in New Zealand and started racing in Australia in January 2023 for trainer Jess Tubbs and regular driver Greg Sugars.
She won the group 3 Robin Dundee Stakes in Menangle in 2024 and this year’s Geelong Pacing Cup before she closed her career with a lift in the Inter Dominion series in Queensland.
She would eventually compete well on the two rounds of heats before she finished second to jump to fame in the $ 1 million grand finale of last month.
“Undoubtedly she is the best I’ve ever had and I have had horses since I was 17 or 18,” said Jarvis.
“It was a great sensation to have an Inter Dominion hardcarder and she will unfortunately be missed.
“While you walk into my place, I have everything she won. She certainly changed my life.”
Larajay Farm placed a farewell to Rakero Rebel on Facebook, which thanked the daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven for an exciting racing core.
“She has been a wonderful mare for us, winning the group 1 Queen of the Pacific among several other group and races mentioned, which collects almost half a million dollars in stakes and bonuses along the way,” it said.
“She should be a welcome addition to the Australian breeding ranks and we look forward to seeing her offspring touching the job in the coming years.”
