Welcome to the Newcastle V Liverpool Preview.
Monday, August 25, 8 p.m. kicked off.
All Eyes will be this holiday at St James’ Park on Monday, while Newcastle United host is for Liverpool in their first home game of the season, live on Sky Sports.
The atmosphere promises to be absolutely electric, because the two teams go toe-teen with a number of very public off-field-wranglings that add a fascinating background story to a fixture that has had more than its fair part of drama over the years.
The Magpies will hope for a repeat of their Wembley Heroics in March, when they completely surpassed Liverpool in a well-deserved and extensive Cup final victory.
Form
The tone had a mixed bag with results during the preseason and enjoyed only the only victory over Carlisle United. It was a relief when the real deal started in Villa Park and a dominant display from United was rewarded with a point that could have been three. Played one, drawn.
Liverpool won five of their six -season friendships with victories that came to Preston, Stoke, Yokohama and Athletic Bilbao (twice). They also lost 4-2 to AC Milan in Hong Kong. Their only league match so far this season was a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth. Played one, one won.
Last time -out
Newcastle started their season to Aston Villa last Saturday and brought a great performance in a 0-0-drawing game that the Toon Villa Park with all three points should have seen the points. A dominant first half had anything but the opening goal and when the villains were reduced to ten men with twenty -five minutes to play, the scene was set for a nice road victory. Unfortunately Villa Shop is silent and played for the draw that many Toon fans would have taken before the kick-off.
Last Friday evening Liverpool organized Bournemouth in a competition that had to be postponed by racist abuse of a Liverpool fan. The Reds took a 2-0 lead before they were linked to 2-2. A Topsy-Turvy match Liverpool waved the way back at the end when they scored two late goals to seal a 4-2 victory.
National attack!
Newcastle has not won a home match against Liverpool since December 2015.
The Toon enjoyed ten Premier League -home profits on Liverpool.
Liverpool has won five of their last eight visits to St James’ Park and signed the other three.
Newcastle delivered five goals against Liverpool last season, three in the competition and (glorious) two in the Cup final.
Memorable competition
In 2000, the Sir Bobby team staggered a desperate disappointing Derby Day defeat against arch-rival Sunderland when Liverpool fluctuated to St James’ park, hoping to inflict more misery to the Toon Army.
Only four minutes in, however, Nobby Solano broke free to make an attempt to make an attempt at the end of it still to send the black -white supporters to Delirium! Everyone worried that this could be a flash in the pan, did not have to worry, because Newcastle brought the game to their illustrious opponents. It only seemed a matter of time before United doubled their benefits with efforts by Robert Lee and Gary speed that came close. Liverpool tried to take some momentum back and couldn’t believe it when Robbie Fowler missed an open goal after Hypia’s header hit the bar and then Andy Griffin knew a Nicky Bamby effort of the line.
Not satisfied with only the lead of one goal, Kieron Dyer ran through to double the advantage with a spectacular effort in the Gallowgate with twenty minutes to play and St James exploded in celebration on one of the highlights of the season. There was still time for Liverpool to retire through Emile Heskey, but the day was from United. Newcastle final score 2-1 Liverpool.
Played for both
John Barnes Was a Liverpool legend when he played for the Reds between 1987 and 1997. He scored fourent-like goals in this ten-year-old spell and was an integral part of many English squadrons.
He signed for Kenny Dalglish’s NUFC for the twilight of his career. Barnes scored six league goals in the 97/98 season and people forget how crucial they were. All in victories or draws, without Barnes, we may have been relegated that season, because we avoided the decrease with only four points, despite the completion of the second -year students the previous year. He also shot in a good attempt at home at Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League and claimed an assist for the winner of Shearer in the semi -final of the FA Cup.
Craig Bellamy Signed for Sir Bobby Robson in 2001 and spent three and a half -moved years on Tyneside, before he left under a cloud when he drops out with Graeme Souness. Memorable moments include scoring in back-to-back home matches against the Mackems and an incredible version to Feyenoord, when his two goals (including a last-minute winner) took care of the last sixteen of the Champions League.

Less impressive was a number of off-field incidents, Fall outs, disciplinary problems and meaningless bookings that contributed to the fact that NUFC was everyone’s favorite Soapopera club. He signed for Celtic when Blackburn before he played for Liverpool and scored seven league goals in his one season in Anfield.
Jose Enrique Signed for the tone in 2007 and spent four years in St James’ Park.
When he remained at the tone after our disastrous relegation of 2009, he became an important part of the team that was promoted during the first attempt and yielded a crucial goal against Nottingham Forest in a 2-0 win. With reference to a lack of ambition, he left for the Reds in 2011, farewell to bad conditions because of some unwise comments about social media about the club that never competes for the top six.
The Toon -army reminded him relentlessly when he returned to play against us in April, because we were near the top of the competition and insist on a top four finish. Bizarre enough, he would end the day playing in Doel when Liverpool had sent their keeper at the end of a huge 2-0 win for United.
Managers
Eddie Howe follows a 0-0 draw away at Aston Villa:
“I am happy with the point. I thought we were beautiful, front-foot and very aggressive. We had opportunities to score. I think we had a bit of a silence in the red card and then came strong again. I am disappointed. I am disappointed that we did not win. There is a history of the game.
Arne Slot After a 4-2 home victory on Bournemouth:
“I thought winning the competition here would always be more special than winning a home game against Bournemouth, but the last six or seven minutes … wow! Wow, wow, wow! How impressive that was. Great game! I think it was a great game to watch. First football match in the Premier League in terms of importance.
Charity
Newcastle United Fans Food Bank will again collect against the Gallowgate end and receive grateful food, money and toiletries for people in need. Of particular importance are non-permanent food and drinking products (such as noodles, pasta, rice, canned food, soup, cereal, cordial, long life, etc.) as well as toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste and sanitary products. Please give what you can, every donation is greatly appreciated.

Prediction
The atmosphere for this will be absolutely intense and I think the Toon Army wants to be the twelfth man for the black and whites.
My prediction is that Newcastle will start on the front foot and swarm over their opponents, so that a deserved two goals are taken to the break. Maybe we should endure the storm a bit in the second half, but we will continue to determine a famous victory. Newcastle 2-1 Liverpool.
