The university’s portfolio now includes patents such as a photocatalytic process for green hydrogen generation, an automatic transmission shifting system for hybrid vehicles and assistive technologies designed to support visually impaired users.
“A key catalyst in this journey has been the Center for Intellectual Asset Protection (CIAP), established in 2021. The center has streamlined the end-to-end patenting process, allowing educators, students and researchers to protect and advance their innovations with confidence,” the report said.
Collaborations in the sector
The patent milestone was achieved at a time when the university is ramping up several collaborations in academia.
Last month, SRMIST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schneider Electric to establish a Center of Excellence in Human Machine Interface (HMI). In addition, the Center for Electrical Mobility (CEM) and automaker Stellantis collaborated to accelerate innovation, skills development and the transformation of conceptual breakthroughs into market-ready EV technologies.
