Sri Lanka Playing XI vs Pakistan-Pakistan T20I Tri Series 2025 Match 6:
Openers: Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara
Former T20 World Cup winners Sri Lanka would be looking to replicate the same performance they achieved in the previous match against Zimbabwe when they take on Pakistan to qualify for the final of the three-nation series. The visitors would rely on the tools at their disposal to become good in their respective disciplines and give Pakistan a tough time with bat, ball and in the field.
Your daily dose of cricket!
Although Sri Lanka have little experience compared to their opponent, they showed in the last match what they are capable of when they reach their full potential.
The Dasun Shanaka would be looking to do something similar against an in-form Pakistani batting and bowling line-up in what happens to be a do-or-die game for the Lankan Lions.
To begin with, Sri Lanka would want their batting to be good as the inconsistency of the batters has been a major problem for the team in the series.
The onus falls on the opening duo of Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara to get the team off to a good start, just like they did against Zimbabwe.
Besides setting a good score while batting in partnership, the team management would also support the batters to achieve a high score individually as well.
Nissanka, who fell two runs short of what could have been a memorable century in the previous match, is keen to build on that and would want good support from Mishara, who would be keen to play a match-winning knock himself.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kusal Mendis (wk), Kusal Perera, Janith Liyanage, Dasun Shanaka (c), Pavan Rathnayake, Wanindu Hasaranga
Besides the openers, the middle-order batsmen will also be entrusted to dictate the terms in the middle phase of the Sri Lankan batting innings.
The likes of experienced batters Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera will have to take responsibility and neutralize the threat of Mohammad Nawaz, who has been in brilliant form since his return to the side.
The aforementioned batters will expect good support from Janith Liyanage, who can also cross the line with ease, and the team’s captain for this particular series, Dasun Shanaka.
As is the case in any format of the match, all eyes will be on the top five batters who will score the bulk of the runs for the side while batting first or in the chase, as Nisanka and Mendis did in the return against Zimbabwe.
Bowlers: Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Eshan Malinga
As for the bowling, it would be excited after a strong performance in the last match and look to make a similar effort against Pakistan
However, the Sri Lankan bowling attack will be out of the question given the shape of Pakistan’s batting line-up.
It will have to be a combined bowling performance where every ball rises and makes a meaningful contribution if the team is to prevent the Pakistani batters from scoring freely.
The one bowler who will play a major role in realizing that plan would be Wanindu Hasaranga, who got under wicket again against Zimbabwe and would look to pick wickets consistently after the powerplay to give his team the best chance of winning.
Hasaranga is said to be seeking support from fellow spinner Maheesh Theekshana, who will take over the new ball, and fast bowling duo Dushmantha Chameera and Eshan Malinga.
