Production company name?
Flour mill

When was the company founded?
2003

Where are you based and in which states have you filmed for 23/24/25 productions?
We’re based in Melbourne and every show we’ve made over the last twenty years has been filmed in Victoria (we like to come home in the evenings), although our new ABC comedy, Ground up, will see us travel all the way to Tasmania. Robyn and Wayne also ventured to NSW to direct part of season 2 Colin from Accounts but that wasn’t a Gristmill project.

How many full-time equivalents and how much will this be expanded to during production?
Usually around 5 or 6. In production up to 100.

What is your ownership model and who are the key clients?
The company is privately owned by Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope.

Describe the genres you specialize in for production?
Narrative comedy for both adults and children, as well as drama.

What have been some of your notable credits and with which broadcasters/streamers?
The Librarians (ABC), Very Small Business (ABC), Upper Middle Bogan (ABC), Little Lunch (ABC), The InBestigators (Netflix/ABC), Summer Love (ABC), Ground Up (ABC), Dear Life (Stan).

What’s on your agenda and how many projects are in active development?
Our drama, Dear life, will be released on Stan on January 1, 2026. Our next comedy, Ground up, will appear on the ABC in 2026. We’ve got a few other things in the top drawer that we’ll announce in 2026.

Do you receive unsolicited material, what are you looking for, how should people pitch projects?
We do not receive unsolicited material as we primarily produce the work we create.

What change would you most like to see when it comes to committees?
We think the industry always feels good when a wide range of broadcasters and streamers invest in both local comedy and drama. We would like to see more investment in children’s television across the board.
