A featherweight fight scheduled for Saturday’s UFC Vegas 110 card is facing fight-fixing allegations suspicious line movement before the fight starts.
At least two major sportsbooks are offering refunds on bets placed on the action that took place at Yadier del Valle against Isaac Dulgarian. Both Caesars Sportsbook And William Hill USA are offering cash credits to gamblers, in a situation eerily reminiscent of the 2022 Darrick Minner vs. Shayilan Nuerdanbieke debacle.
DraftKings has issued a statement advise that they are aware of the situation.
Similar to the Minner case, where the fighter entered his UFC Vegas 64 fight injured and word slipped, the allegations regarding del Valle vs. Dulgarian last Saturday, with many online noticing the shift in line movement. While the Minner case has been surrounded by injury news leaks, many point to Isaac Dulgarian’s lack of effective defense in the fight.
Here we go again.
In the Minner case, former GLORY MMA and Fitness coach James Krause was ultimately banned from MMA, which included the FBI investigating. The scandal exposed evidence that Krause was selling gambling tips through his own Discord channel, and also ensnared UFC flyweight Jeff Molina, who was released by the promotion and suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission for helping Krause with his gambling venture.
Krause was an outspoken proponent of betting on fights, saying he made more money from it than fighting. However, shifting moneylines when his own fighter was injured crossed a clear line and resulted in several jurisdictions briefly banning betting on UFC events.
The UFC later issued a strict policy regarding fighters and betting their team on UFC fights, including banning them from betting on themselves.
UFC fighter and analyst Michael Chiesa slammed Dulgarian’s performance during the fight during the UFC Vegas 110 post-fight show.
“When you’re on the main card of a UFC, it’s one thing if you get beaten into submission, but there’s a lot of mistakes on Day 1,” Chiesa said during the UFC post-fight show (h/t MMA junkie). “You can even hear during the broadcast: ‘What is this guy doing?’ You peel off the top hand. You don’t hit behind you. That’s the most useless shot you can make. I’m sitting here on the pre-show hyping you up as a guy who can get into the top five and win fights, and it doesn’t even look like you can fight someone who’s ranked at the bottom of the top 500. I have to be honest here. That was an F performance. It was absolute trash.”
“I’m not going to say here that Del Valle is some kind of stumbling block. The man is undefeated for a reason, he’s a great fighter. But for a man in Dulgarian, you don’t even run with your feet. Every fight before you shoot and run through these guys. You shot at Del Valle. You let him control you. You know how to cut the corner, you know how to run, you know how to re-attack. You know your short offense when you’re in a head-on You fought like an amateur. He literally laid an egg, he fought like an amateur. And I hate to make fun of that guy, but I have to be honest in my assessment.
Currently, there has been no official statement from the UFC or Dulgarian, nor have any allegations of fight manipulation, or who may have been involved, been proven.
