Sporting Kansas City V VANCOUVER Whitecaps: Sabbi praises clinical attacking displays – football news

Vancouver WhiteCaps Vooruit Emmanuel Sabbi has credited its attacking teammates for their clinical nature prior to this week’s trip to Sporting Kansas City.

Before a 4-0 win over Forge in the final of the Canadian championship, Vancouver defeated St. Louis City 3-2 and pushed Eastern Conference Leaders Philadelphia Union 7-0.

Sabbi was one of the four goal scorers against the Union, with his brace overshadowed by the first MLS hat trick by Thomas Muller, while Mathias Laborda and Rayan Elloumi also scored.

The Whitecaps are third in the Western Conference, four points behind leaders San Diego FC with two games in hand on their rivals.

They are confronted with Kansas City, who still have an external chance to make the play -offs, in their next game on the road on Saturday.

Sabbi admitted that road races are generally more difficult, but he supports the attacking department of Vancouver to get the job done.

“Football can be very demanding,” said Sabbi prior to the game.

“We try to get to the best possible places and try to feed each other. We try to be clinical for the goal and that is what we have done the last few games, so we want to continue that.

“We just want to play how we played, not exaggerated or think too much. I think our strong suit will maintain our runs, so that’s what we will look like.

“Our versions have been good. During the training, we moved, moved to the field and showed that we are a tough team that is trying to get better.

“If you leave, the home team is always favorites, but we know where we are going, and we seemed to be mentally and physically prepared for the game on Saturday.”

Sporting KC is 13th in the west after back-to-back defeats, eight points drift from the play-off photo and need different favors from elsewhere to get the top nine.
