A university investigation found the brotherhood responsible for Wilson’s death during a violent initiation ritual.
Southern University has officially removed the Omega PSI Phi -Brotherhood from the campus after the hazing of student Caleb Wilson. The removal was made public on July 18, although university officials said that the decision was in force since 24 April.
According to a spokesperson for the university, the student affairs division of the school found the Brotherhood responsible for the incident that led to the death of Wilson and took disciplinary measures against the Beta Sigma chapter.
As a result, the Brotherhood is no longer recognized as a student organization at Southern University and must remove all associated symbols from the campus. That suddenly includes banks, monuments, trees and other items that mark the presence of Omega PSI Phi.
According to Unpleasant WAFBThe move follows the death of 20-year-old Caleb Wilson, a machine building Engineering Major and talented trumpet player in the renowned human jukebox-marching band by Southern.
Wilson collapsed during a hazing ritual in a Baton Rouge magazine and later died of his injuries.
Initially, the members of the Brotherhood told the authorities that Wilson was hit while playing basketball in a park. They dropped him off in the hospital with only socks and training pants. However, the truth later emerged that Wilson was repeatedly beaten in the chest during a brotherhood ritual.
Three Brotherhood members – Caleb McCray, 24; Kyle Thurman, 25; And Isaiah Smith, 29 – were arrested in connection with the hazing. All three are confronted with accusations of criminal hazing, while McCray is also confronted with a declaration of mans due to the provision of the fatal strokes.
The police say that the commitments were drawn up and were beaten four times in the chest while they wore black boxing gloves, which were later recovered from the warehouse.
Isaiah Smith, who was the spray dishes of the chapter, was responsible for organizing the recruitment events, including the ritual that led to the death of Wilson. His father, Todd Smith, leaked the Woodcrest Drive warehouse where the hazing took place for his company, California Hardhouten Floors.
The university has not given any further comments, but confirmed that the Brotherhood has lost all privileges and must completely dismantle its presence on campus.
