Waymo never had a chance, says Elon Musk

On Tuesday, Googling‘s chief scientist for DeepMind, Jeff Deantook to social media platform X and shared his thoughts on Waymo’s progress in the AV sector. Dean was asked for his opinion on Tesla’s AI application. “I don’t think Tesla will even come close to achieving driver-only autonomous miles like Waymo,” Dean said.

In response to Dean’s message, Musk shared his thoughts. “Waymo never really had a chance against Tesla,” Musk said, adding that this would become clear to people “in retrospect.”

Waymo announces 14 million paid robotaxi rides

On Wednesday, Waymo announced that it had reached 14 million paid Robotaxi rides this year. The company says it will make more than 20 million trips by the end of the year. Waymo reports that its passengers have clocked a total of more than 3.8 million hours across all the cities in which it operates.

Waymo completes 450,000 weekly trips, Ross Gerber weighs in

The news comes as Waymo, as an investment firm, has reportedly reached the milestone of 450,000 weekly rides Tiger globalwhich has a position in Waymo, shared in a letter to investors updated figures for Waymo’s weekly Robotaxi rides, which stood at 450,000 per week.

Ross Gerberco-founder of Gerber Kawasakiweighed in on the updated numbers, targeting $200 million in annual revenue for Waymo from its fleet of 2,500 Robotaxis across its cities. He also mentioned that Waymo’s growth could be challenging Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE:UBER).

Elon Musk says Tesla fixed FSD without oversight

Speaking at the xAI Hackathon, Musk shared updates on Tesla’s self-driving exploits. The billionaire said that FSD Unsupervised is “pretty much resolved at this point.” He also added that there would be no safety monitors on board the Austin Robotaxis within three weeks.
