South -Africa: Redempticism and explanation wins on day 2 of the SA Hockey IPT in Cape Town

Day 2 of the SA Hockey Interrovincial Tournament saw repayment arches, explanation victories and semi-final places confirmed, in the Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town, on Tuesday July 29, 2025.

With pressure mounting in the swimming pools and every goal with weight, teams stepped across the board, nothing more than the SA U21 parties that reacted in a emphatic way.

Women a section

Northern Blues 0–4 SA U21

In a tournament-colored upset, the Junior Proteas surprised the ruling champions with an almost perfect version. After a disappointing day 1, the SA U21’s were clinical and compiled.

Ntsopa Mokoena opened the score, Olympian Taheera Augousti checked the midfield and further goals of Anja Tromp, Hannah Quinton (PC) and Jodie Sloten a famous victory.

Free State 3–1 KZN Raiders

Vrijstaat bounced back from their heavy defeat with a lively version. Lisa van der Merwe first struck before Kzn Raiders late via Brooklyn Kroutz.

But it was free state that ended the strongest, with Merisone Mokone and Reatile Pitso scoring in the dying minutes to achieve a crucial three points.

WP Peninsula 0–1 Northwest

In a tightly disputed Pool A, North West continued their impressive form with a narrow 1-0 win over the WP peninsula.

Western province 6–0 Southern Gauteng

In a collision of heavyweights, it was the hosts who blew the competition wide open. Kayla de Waal and Charne Maddocks gave WP a 2-0 rest lead.

The second half was a Masterclass: Caylin Maree, VACTILE ZULU, Charlene Boshoff, Ashleigh Thomas and Brady Wiseman all found the net in a sizzling attacking display that underlined the WP title references.

Ladies B section

Disa left their mark with an emphatic victory when Trusten Barnard stole the show with four goals. Jana van Antwerpen added a brace and Michelle Winter completed the score, so that the promotion of Disa kept alive.

Eastern Province 5–0 Mpumalanga

Eastern Province made three wins of three with another clean sheet and five different scorers. Tasmyn Preller, Jade Singleton, Elan van Vugt, Toni Marks and Tristan Howard all found the net in a version that strengthened the dominance of EP in the B section.
