Due to a full seven innings against the second rank of Taiwan, Germany’s hope to qualify for the Super Round during the Baseball World Cup Under-18 Baseball, while Italy and South Africa were entangled in an exciting last game of Round Robin Play from Okinawa.
South Korea – South Africa
After he found himself 13-0 in the bottom of the third on Sunday, South Africa returned to the field against South Korea, ranked no. 4 in the world by WBSC. When the game started, South Korea had scored five points in the first, three with two out. Aiden McKenzie was a single to center with one in the second place to give South Africa some hope for an immediate answer, but armed catcher Yeon-Woo Lee caught on McKenzie-Stelen and a strikeout ended the threat.
Zuid -Korea added seven more in the second and a single run in the top of the third, with play that resumes with two out in the lower half. Donovan Wallendorf, who was electric as a Pinchloper against Italy in yesterday’s game, took a full walk after the game started again, but Jun-Sung Park produced a bouncer on the left to end the inning.
The hit of the Walk and McKenzie would be the only Baserunners against the Moundsmen of South Korea. The East Asian heavyweights added four more points in the fourth, although IMaad Hassiem would return for the fifth and keep the Koreans scoreless.
Day 7 schedule
Now that the polar game has been completed, South Africa China will take over in the first game of the placement round. The day will also contain the first and only head-to-head game between the European countries, with Germany taking on Italy in the second matchup of the day.
