With 93-7 on the board and only a lead of 63, SA had a big task ahead of them.

The aim for South Africa on Day 3 would have been for the remaining batters to stay with their captain, Temba Bavuma, for as long as possible.

They got off to a good start with a 44-run partnership between Bosch and Bavuma.

They took South Africa to 135, when Bosch was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah to a ball that came sharply in from the 5th stump, stayed low and knocked over the outside stump, beating the outside edge.

Simon Harmer joined the skipper at the crease.

Bavuma (55*) brought up his half-century, his third in India and 26th in his career.

After reaching a lead of 123 and passing the 150-run mark, Harmer shockingly shouldered his arms into Siraj, and the ball angled in, stayed low off the 5th stump and broke the stump.

SA were all out for 153 when Siraj hit Keshav Maharaj’s toe, out lbw.

India needed 124 to win.

Marco Jansen struck on his second delivery to find Yashasvi Jaiswal’s lead.

Jansen then dismissed KL Rahul in his next over and found a thick edge that flew to the keeper. IND was 1-2.

He continued to harass India; he trapped Jadeja lbw for 18. IND was 64-5.

Washington Sundar gave the Proteas some trouble with his 31, but Aiden Markram found his edge on the slips. South Africa had a chance with India at 72-6.

Kuldeep Yadav was the next to fall, lbw by Harmer. India trailed by seven and needed 47 to win.

Axar Patel went all out against Maharaj, hitting 26 off 17 balls (1 four, 2 sixes), but he hit one big shot too many, with Bavuma taking an excellent catch at midwicket.

Maharaj then took the final wicket, finding Mohammed Siraj’s edge, with Markram taking an incredible catch in the slips.
