Sourv Ganguly appointed as head coach of this team just before Asia Cup 2025

Sourv Ganguly steps into a new chapter of his cricket trip. The former India captain has been announced as the new head coach of Pretoria Capitals for the coming season of the SA20 League In South Africa.

The franchise confirmed the news with a post on Instagram and said: “The prince is completely ready to bring a royal flair to the Capitals Camp! We are overjoyed to announce Sourv Ganguly as our new head coach. The Centurion awaits.”

This will be Ganguly’s first assignment as head coach in Franchise Cricket. He previously worked behind the scenes with Delhi Capitals as team director between 2018 and 2019, before he continued as president of the BCCI.

More recently, he was appointed as JSW’s director of Cricket, a role that held him to the group’s cricket franchises.

Make up for the SA20

Ganguly will take the lead before the SA20 auction planned for September 9, 2025. The tournament itself runs from December 26 to January 25, a slightly earlier window to prevent the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka from overlapping.

Jonathan Trott, currently coaching from Afghanistan, will continue to manage his national side during the global event, while Ganguly will look at the challenge of Pretoria in the League flagship in South Africa.
