It looks like Dante Polvara’s time in Scotland is coming to an end.

MLS club St. Louis CITY SC is nearing a deal to sign Polvara from Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen for around $200,000, sources confirmed to SBI. Polvara has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract that runs until 2028.

The contract also includes a club option for 2029, sources said. Aberdeen had also offered Polvara a contract extension as his current contract runs until May.

The daily record was the first to report St. Louis CITY SC’s interest in Polvara.

Polvara, 25, originally joined Aberdeen in 2021 immediately following his collegiate career at the University of Connecticut. After making just 11 appearances for the club over parts of two seasons, the former Mac Hermann Award winner was loaned out to USL side Charleston Battery in 2023.

He later returned to Aberdeen that summer and delivered his best season to date, scoring four goals and adding five assists in 40 appearances.

Since then, Polvara has scored one goal and provided two assists in 42 combined appearances from 2024 to 2026. He was not part of the squad for Saturday’s 6-2 win over Livingston.

Former St. Louis CITY SC sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel is currently part of Aberdeen’s front office.

St. Louis failed to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2025, finishing 13th in the 15-club Western Conference.
