From the start, they made the impressive home their own, working with the builder to make a number of changes to the interior to suit their family’s needs.
“I have elderly parents in the UK, so we adapted the bottom level so they could stay down there when they came to visit, and we put an outdoor kitchen outside, which was built by the people who built the kitchen at Arkhe on The Parade,” Prash said.
“That kitchen is my baby. It took me a few months to master how to manipulate the fire there, and that was part of the fun.

“I light it once a week and then it becomes a bit of a social occasion where we sit outside for hours.
“We recently had a 14-course tasting menu, where we selected very tasty local ingredients, making it quite an experience where everyone comes together for a few hours.
“The dads usually gather around the fire and the kids will use the pool, and it brings everyone together really well.
“When we open those doors, we can have food coming in and out of the house and that beautiful island is set up so that you can have a meal around it, or use it as a plate station as part of a big potluck if we have larger groups here.”

“Because we have a sloped ceiling at that end of the living room, you get the water reflected into the house, and we had a bean bag chair that we lay on and watched the light dance through the ceiling.”
Now that he’s moving on to another project, Prash says he and his family will miss the house, but he hopes the next owners will love it as much as they love Somerton Park.
“Somerton Park just offers a wonderful lifestyle – still nice and close to the city, but just a little further south so it’s not super busy, and the beach here is beautiful,” he says.
