Cumberland, me – The believers in the east will switch from Farmington to the 153RD Annual Cumberland Fair on Sunday (September 21) with eight armor races programmed in the iconic South Maine Oval.
Many of Maine’s national stock markets are known for their tractor -pulls and donation demonstrations, but the Cumberland Fair was held for the first time in 1868 with harness races such as the “Maine” attraction. It remains one of the largest annual agricultural events in the southern part of the Pine Tree State.
The Standardbred Horse Racing on the Cumberland Fairgrounds starts at 2:00 PM on the opening day, Sunday (September 21) with full tickets planned for eight racing data up to and including Sunday (September 28).
Post-time is planned for 1 p.m. for the programs from Monday to Thursday (22-25 September) and will fall back until 12:00 for the remaining weekend dates from Friday to Sunday (26-28 September).
The recommended races for the opening day card are the first legs of the Zipper Pop -up series, including three $ 4,500 divisions of the conditioned Pacing events with the final of $ 7,500 that is held on Sunday (September 27).
The program of Monday (September 28) of ten races includes more pop-ups with two $ 5,000 divisions from the Merry Go Round Pacing series, as well as a few of $ 5,000 tilt-a-whirl trotting series Splits. Both series enjoy $ 8,000 finals on Friday (September 26).
Always a highlight of the ‘Always in September’ fair, the Maine Sire Stakes will continue on Wednesday (September 24) with 3-year-old Merrievefeulen with 3-year-old Pacers and then roll the 3-year-old male pacers on Thursday (September 25), with the 3-year-old carriers who complete the second divisions on Friday (September 26).
Again, Cumberland organizes the $ 300,000 EST. Maine Sire Stakes 2-year finals on Saturday 27 September, with two first-year students, massive speed and snow therapins, which means that their intact records are on the line in their respective confrontations.
After the fair, the 18-day winter festival of the track starts on November 2 and then follows a two-day Saturday-Sunday schedule during November. The month of December picks up on Friday for 3-day weekends racing until December 21. Our annual au revoir pension ceremonies are planned for December 20.
