The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in collaboration with the army and the governments of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, will perform a large -scale exercise for disaster management with the name ‘Excise Suraksha Chakra‘From July 29 to August 1.

This multi-agency, multi-state exercise is one of the most comprehensive disaster parrosity initiatives that have ever been carried out in the National Capital Region (NCR), aimed at strengthening inter-agency coordination and response mechanisms to be able to handle large disasters, such as earthquakes and industrial chemical hazards.

The four -day exercise is structured to continue from strategic planning to a ground level action. On July 29, a high -level symposium will be held in the Maneekshaw Center, where senior leadership of participating agencies deliberate about the danger profile of the region and share strategies for effective disaster response.

This is followed by a Table Top Exercise (TTEX) on July 30 at the same location, in which disaster managers will simulate and heat their reaction plans against hypothetical disaster scenarios.

The exercise will culminate on 1 August with a full-scaling MOCK exercise that simulates a large earthquake event. This exercise on the field will be performed at the same time in all 18 participating districts in the NCR and coordinated by the Delhi State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).

Public advice was issued prior to the exercise of 1 August to ensure that residents do not confuse the exercise with an actual emergency situation. Citizens are encouraged to stay calm and to collaborate with authorities, because the activities are exclusively designed for readiness and training purposes.

During the exercise, people can witness an increased movement of emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire ships, police vehicles and army trucks. Reaction teams consisting of staff from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), forces, civil defense and other participating agencies will be deployed at different locations.

Sirens and public address systems can be used to identify the start of the drilling and temporary field facilities, such as commandos of incidents, trial areas, auxiliary camps and medical auxiliary messages, are set up on designated sites. Simulated rescue operations with search and rescue exercises, victim evacuation and medical assistance will also be performed with the help of Mock victims to test emergency aid options.

The exercise will overhaul 18 districts in the NCR, including all 11 districts of Delhi – Central, East, New Delhi, Noord, Noordoost, Noordwest, Shahdara, Zuid, Zuidoost, Zuidwest and West -Delhi. The participating districts Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh and Rewari are the participating districts, while Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad are the two participating districts from Uttar Pradesh.

Exercise Suraksha Chakra uses a “GOOD of government” approach, with participants, including the armed forces, Central Armed Police (CAPFS), scientific and technical institutions such as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the National Center for Seismology (NCS), as well as civil organizations.
