The Crystal Palace centre-back has developed into a top Premier League player during his time at Selhurst Park, and there will now be plenty of interest in him as his contract nears the end.
Arsenal have been linked with Guehi by the club Athletic’s David Ornstein, and it appears Campbell would back that move ahead of other suitors such as Liverpool.
“Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace is a top player. I know Liverpool are sniffing around for him. That’s someone I would inquire about,” Campbell told Sky Bet.
Marc Guehi was linked with Arsenal despite already having great defensive depth
The Guehi links are somewhat surprising considering Arsenal already have so much quality and strength in defence.
The Gunners signed Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera in the summer and both have started well, although they are already well behind William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes in the pecking order.
Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber can all also play at centre-back if required, so it is difficult to see how Guehi would get much game time at the Emirates Stadium.
The England international is a fine player, but unless Mikel Arteta has a new position in mind for him, he is not someone who seems capable of replacing Saliba or Gabriel.
Marc Guehi must opt for a transfer to Liverpool
Guehi would certainly be better off choosing Liverpool if he wants to play for a big club where he will actually be an important part of the starting XI.
The Reds need a long-term successor to the aging Virgil van Dijk, while there could also be a major hole in the squad if Ibrahima Konate leaves at the end of his contract this summer.
Liverpool are not at their best at the moment, but Guehi’s arrival could help Arne Slot get his side back to their best next season.
