Sol Campbell has praised Cristhian Mosquera after an impressive start to his Arsenal career.
Arsenal signed Mosquera from Valencia this summer, with the Spanish centre-back moving to North London for a fee of around £13 million.
The 21-year-old impressed in his first appearances for the club and earned the praise of club great Campbell.
Campbell, who was part of Arsenal’s title-winning teams in 2002 and 2004, believes Mosquera is capable of taking established centre-backs Gabriel and William Saliba to the next level.
“Mosquera has done really well. He has come a few times and has really made a lot of progress for his age,” Campbell said. The times.
“You know, he’ll make little mistakes here and there, but that’s normal. But he’s fast and strong, has good positioning and is a good passer. He knows what it’s all about. He’s responsible and it seems like he cares about the game too.”
“He wants to give a good performance every time he steps on the field. He can learn a lot from Saliba and Gabriel. And that’s what you want. You want these young players, if someone gets injured, he comes in and the level doesn’t drop. And with him it didn’t drop. So he’s on the boys’ heels.”
