Snapchat has announced A new collaboration with Channel 5 in the UKWho will see Snapchat’s AR technology embedded in a new program that looks at the development of some of the ancient wonders of the world.

As you can see in this example, the Snapchat cooperation sees the AR experiences to viewers via a QR code, which, when scanned, will enable them to enter an AR activation, via the Snap camera, more context about the miracle in discussion.

As explained by Bite:

The series is broadcast at Channel 5 in the UK and follows Bettany Hughes over three continents to investigate the seven miracles, who travel to old locations in Greece, Egypt and Turkey to carefully re-examine the 2,200-year-old “bucket list”. By simply scanning a QR code on the screen with their phones, viewers can travel to times almost on time to explore, learn and see these sites. From trips to the old kingdom of Egypt to view the Giza pyramids to seeing the beautiful hanging gardens of Babylon – people can explore these awesome sites in augmented reality. “

It is an interesting experiment that is directly related to the TV series, which can help to increase the consciousness of AR’s ability for an extensive educational goal, and increases interest in Snapchat’s AR -Tools.

And with AR glasses on the road, developed by Snap and others, that could be a valuable access point for a wide cross-section of the community, which traditionally is not the target group of Snap.

Snapchat users are predominantly younger, and not, I would suggest, within the goal -tremographic for this program. But through this new partnership, more TV viewers could try the advanced AR options from Snap, which could help to establish a path to wider AR reach and resonance.

In any case, it is an interesting collaboration, and another means that Snap stimulates the reach of the public.
