The Milton Keynes Table Tennis Center came to life yesterday when players of all ages and skills to the last names Ping Aspire series Event – A celebration of fun, friendly competition and the power of table tennis to bring people together.

From complete beginners to returning players, everyone had the opportunity to test their skills, make new friends and enjoy a buzzing day of competitions. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with one player simply adding it: “Everything – I loved every moment!”

Including, fun and inspiring
One of the striking aspects of the Aspire events is their inclusiveness. Martin, who usually plays in a Parkinson’s table tennis group, was delighted to participate:
“I only played for a year, and especially social, but I wanted to see how my game came up against people without Parkinson’s. I won a few, lost a few and got the second round – which might have been a mistake because I am damaged! But I am great to see the talent in these young people. It’s fun and quite inspiring – you want you!”

Jonathan, who discovered the tournament via the North Hands Table Tennis Facebook page, praised the competition balance:
“I expected to lose a lot, but it is great to see all the different levels here – everything can happen! The second phase, where you play people closer to your level, was especially fun and helped me to think more about my style and decisions. It is really a good experience.”

For Pran Fernando, the event has again fueled a passion from childhood:
“I played table tennis at school and university and then stopped for years. I recently returned to it with my local club, and entering this was a perfect exercise for the new season. It is certainly worthwhile if you are new and are looking for people and playing at your own level. Very thanks to Milton Keynes Table Tennis Center for a wonderful location.”

Strong competition across the board
The event was not only about fun – the play standard was impressively competitive, with exciting meetings and many surprises. Event sponsor Bribar gave Royaal Vouchers for the winners and second place.

Section 1 winner: Ben Stoneman

A winning formula
The research results of the day told the story loudly and clearly – with most players who give agency for pleasure, organization and inclusiveness.
