Former Pacers in Nieuw -Zeeland and now two of Wa’s Best, Mr. Smartee (Always B Miki) and Cyclone Jordy (Art Major) are close to resuming the West -Australian Harness Racetrainer Gary Hall SNR.
Mr. Smartee won one of his two starts as two years old in Nieuw -Zeeland before he was bought by West -Australian interests and placed at Hall.
In Australia he won another seventeen races, including three group – which – the Golden Nugget, the Freemantle Cup and $ 1.2 million the Nullarbor.
“He will be on Friday in as long as the field will last. He had a good preparation this time. Actually, he was hurried the final preparation in those races and he was still pretty good. I think he had a better preparation this time, so I am convinced that he is going well,” Hall said.
Cyclone Jordy had five starts in New Zealand for Tait Hopkins and won three races, including the Group One Cardigan Bay Stakes Young Guns Final.
Since being in Australia, the now three -year -old has been unbeaten in nine starts. His big win was the gold slipper in the group one.

“He will probably also start next Friday in a prelude to the WA Derby, but usually I nomine him people scratches and sometimes the field does not stand. If he does not go there, he will start the next week in the Battle of Bunbury ($ 35,000 three -year -old position of more than 2,100 meters).”
Hall is happy with his progress.
“He looks better than he was two years old. He works with Mister Smartee and they don’t end up far apart. I had never driven him in the trackwork before because Junior always stays with him. I drove him on Wednesday and I think he is a little better than I thought he was.”
The main target of the horse is the $ 200,000 West -Australian Derby in Gloucester Park on Friday 31star October.
Cyclone Jordy’s half -brother Cyclone Rebel was a smart winner in Alexandra Park on Friday evening.
Although he is in the game for a long time, Hall says that he still feels the pressure to have a good horse.
“It keeps me awake occasionally and you always worry about them. Trying to make them sound, try to prepare them for the right races. It is not an easy job. I have been good luck over the years and I am very lucky with how things have disappeared. I have a great driver in junior (son Gary Hall Junior) takes a bit of the edition.”
Hall Junior will go to Nieuw -Zeeland in November for the World Drivers Championship.
“It is a pretty big thing to represent your country, isn’t it. He goes well. Every time he went to New Zealand, he has driven well in the heats and the final with IM Themwardyquinn and the Auckland Cup. People seem to judge him more there than here.”
Hall SNR has trained more than 3,200 winners, including 50 at Group One Level and he has trained six millionaire Pacers – im themeyhyquinn, Chicago Bull, Mister Smartee, My Hard Copy, The Falcon Strike and Beauduere Boaz.
“Without a doubt, the best horse I have had im themachtyquinn, especially because of his record and he had the speed that not many horses have. I had Alta Christiano that was close to him but suffered bad legs and never reached its full potential.”
