The Reds had a terrible night in the Champions League, with another chaotic performance that saw them lose a ninth game of the last twelve.
Here’s how the media judged another loss to Liverpool and Slot’s low point so far.

Does this mean the end for Arne Slot at Liverpool?
On X, David Lynch said that Slot may have reached the point of no return:
“Arne Slot is a Liverpool manager who has won the league, one of only two in the last 35 years, and deserves all the respect.
“However, I’m not sure he can or should survive this. Nine defeats in twelve and seven goals conceded in the last two at Anfield.”
“This team is so much better than that.”
The Mail‘S Dominic King drew comparisons to the end of Brendan Rodgers’ reign:
“Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” they sang in the away game, but there is no silver lining for Slot, who stood with his hands in his pocket for the last twenty minutes and could not change anything.
“This is definitely a flashback to what it was like 11 years ago in Brendan Rodgers’ final season.”

Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph wondered whether it is possible for Slot to turn things around now:
“Whatever the mitigating factors – and it will be emphasized that one of the most tragic is among them – this is unacceptable and will soon reach the point of being unsustainable without tangible evidence that things can be better.
“Slot’s latest mess showed all the nasty traits that have become a habit over the past three months, amateurish defending, non-existent coverage in midfield and blind panic once behind…
“The trust that was so impressively built in Slot’s debut season is rapidly evaporating.”
In the meantime, Henry Winter painfully outlined how bad Liverpool’s form is:
“The last time Liverpool had it as bad as this, Winston Churchill was Prime Minister. 72 years.”

The Guardian‘S Andy Hunter thinks that Slot is desperately clinging to his job:
“A 75% losing rate since Eddie Nketiah scored the stoppage-time winner for Crystal Palace on September 27 to trigger a collapse that no-one at Liverpool, not even anyone in football, could have seen coming. Incredible indeed.”
“Arne Slot’s team is stuck in reverse…
“Liverpool have suffered three consecutive defeats by a three-goal margin and are showing no signs of the recovery Slot desperately needs to prevent a crisis from undermining his grip on the job.”
In the Mirror, Stephen Killen wrote that Slot should now be the subject of a “serious investigation”:
“The Reds had winning games on paper after the international break, but their opponents will do everything they can to inflict misery on the wounded animal.
“The media frenzy will be stoked and the Dutchman could have a handful of games to save his Liverpool career. A serious investigation must be launched now.”
Finally, Jess Anderson by BBC Sports echoed that sentiment:
“There have been questions about lineups, formations, heart and desire and whether Slot has what it takes to restore faith in what was once a glorious winning machine and feared by all.
“With his players booed at the end of this disheartening loss, Slot will have to find the answers quickly.”
