Liverpool boss Arne Slot felt his team was shortchanged by the referees during Saturday’s dramatic defeat at Bournemouth.
The reigning Premier League champions are now winless in five top-flight games for the first time since 2021 after they went down 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium.
Amine Adli scored in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time, after the referees had originally added four minutes.
Adli’s goal came on the last kick of the match, but Slot believes Liverpool should have had time to find an equalizer then, having already pulled themselves back from a 2-0 deficit.
Slot was seen talking to the referees at the end and he told Sky Sports: “I think we have to look at ourselves first and foremost. It was more open. Both teams were trying to score a goal. They had better chances than us in the last ten minutes and in the end there was a long throw-in and they scored a goal.”
“For me, four minutes of extra time wasn’t enough, but in the end it didn’t matter because they scored.

“Although we might have had two or three minutes, this match should not have had four minutes of extra time. There was already a free kick that lasted two or three minutes, there were VAR moments, there were substitutions. I told them that, those four minutes were not enough.”
Liverpool have conceded a winning goal in the 90th minute or later for the third time this season in the Premier League – the most ever in a single season in the competition.
However, they trailed 2-0 after just over 30 minutes of play and needed goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai to restore parity before the late drama.
Liverpool were playing for the third time in seven days, with the match marking their seventh appearance in January, and Slot suggested his side felt fatigue was starting to set in.
He added: “Although we were 2-0 down at one point, I didn’t feel at the time we deserved to be 2-0 down, but the players responded really well.
“We came back to 2-2 and then I thought it was a very open match in which both teams had their chances.
“They probably [had] even more than us, which shouldn’t be a complete surprise for me, knowing that we played in Marseille and had to play the last four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten games with the same players.
“Some of them were a little tired at times. I think you could see that at the end.”
